Nokia sees growing services income for Networks
HELSINKI, April 20 (Reuters) - Nokia expects up to 40 percent of its network unit's revenues will come from services this year, the Finnish telecom equipment maker's chief financial officer said on Thursday.
"Managed services and services in general are becoming an increasing percentage of Nokia networks business," CFO Rick Simonson told a conference call after releasing the company's first quarter results.
"We are going to approach probably some 40 percent of revenues on the year to come from services overall. Now not all of that is managed services, but services overall, and that's up from approximately 30 percent just a year ago."
Chief Executive Jorma Ollila told the conference call the number of third-generation (3G) phones sold around the world this year would likely be about 100 million -- more than double the number sold in 2005.
"We feel very, very good about having a strong share of that total, about 100 million, which we see being shipped."
